Encouraging high acheivement

As part of an ongoing commitment to education Peter Norris lectures on a number of courses at the University of Bath. In addition to lecturing to post-graduates studying for an MSc in the Conservation of Historic Building, Oculus awards a £250 prize to the most successful student chosen by Dr Michael Forsyth, Director of Studies.

For 4th Year undergraduates studying for a BSc in General Architectural Studies the aim is to ensure that graduates are well versed in the implications of the Building Regulations when they join the construction industry. By way of encouragement and reward Oculus also awards an annual prize of £200 to Second Year students for the "Detail Design" Unit of the Architectural Degree Course. Recipients are selected by Teaching Fellow Dyfed Griffiths of the University.

"This is my way of putting something back into the industry by both encouraging and endorsing high achievement in this field." says Peter.

With John Mullen's previous involvement with the City of Bath College, as from 2009 Oculus will be awarding two prizes of £50 to the most successful final year students studying for an HND in Building Services Engineering and the HND in Construction.
