Expert witness service

 

Oculus provides Expert Witness services in selected fields of expertise which include; personal injuries occurring within the built environment, building surveying and valuation, change of use or material alteration of historic buildings and interpretation in connection with Part L of the Building Regulations.

Peter Norris has been retained for the preparation of expert evidence and opinion in connection with Building Regulation related matters and for personal injuries occurring within the built environment. This has involved a number of significant investigations relating to personal injuries resulting from falls from mezzanine floors, scaffolding, windows, staircases and balconies as well as injuries from glazing and woodworking machinery. His Local Authority experience in inspecting premises involving Public Entertainment Licenses has proved invaluable for investigations involving personal injuries occurring in related premises. He has also acted as an expert on behalf of Local Authorities for proceedings involving its Building Control Department.

John Mullen has similar expertise but also has general building surveying and valuation expertise. He is an expert in the conservation of historic buildings and is particularly involved in the application of the Building Regulations to the change of use or material alteration of historic buildings.

Steve Burridge has been retained for the preparation of expert evidence, opinion and interpretation in connection with Part L of the Building Regulations. This has included the investigation and assessment of compliance of existing building services using his experience and in depth knowledge of Part L and associated legislation and supporting documents.
