Oculus, building on reputation

Welcome to our first Oculus e-newsletter. It is hard to believe that it is now 6 months since I took sole ownership of Rexon Day Building Control and changed the company name to Oculus Building Consultancy. We have been thrilled by the positive feedback from our clients and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing support.

Oculus is going from strength to strength and continues to win and work on many exciting and inspiring projects including building control services for Sothebys at their London auction Houses, an 8 storey fully automated car display tower extension for Mercedes Benz at their Brentford showrooms and a new Humanities Department for Queen Mary, University of London.

We continue to provide high quality Approved Inspector building control and additional consultancy services and to this end we are continually looking to expand and improve on our existing services. We are currently in the process of gaining the necessary qualifications and accreditation for undertaking non domestic Energy Performance Certification and BREEAM assessments (see The Green Team). We have also grown our professional and management teams and John Mullen (MSc, MRICS) is now a Senior Associate of Oculus. John was formerly head of construction at City of Bath College where he taught construction technology and is involved in delivering our excellent CPD lunchtime seminars (see Learning in your lunch break). John is also a conservation surveyor and has broad experience of surveying, he is particularly involved with the sometimes difficult area of resolving the conflicts that arise between conservation and the Building Regulations.

Our e-newsletters will provide an opportunity to tell you about developments within the business, inform you of our range of services and let you know about some of the projects that we are currently involved with. I hope that you find it of interest and I welcome your feed back.
