Situation
Simple reading of the Building Regulations required a pumped sewerage system with 24 hours storage in the sump. With the level of occupancy this represented a sump of significant capacity below basement level.
Needed
A means of minimising the works below basement slab level.
Quantified benefit
Utilising the building’s emergency backup generator, we suggested connecting the sewerage pump system to the generator circuit thus reducing the size of the sump considerably with an estimated saving c£20k.
